Heron with fish
Photo copyright Gloria Nagler

(Just thought I'd ask, but, in all fairness, Harriette has limited options: there aren't many Fish 'n Chips takeout joints for Great Blue Herons!

Besides, turns out, according to several studies on the internet, that somewhere between 19% and 43% of released fish die, anyway. So enjoy your lunch, Harriette.)

What slanderous person gave me that second-class moniker? You might know, photog: can I sue?

(Actually, Sybil's my first scaup image of any kind, lessor or greater! Didn't even know I'd photographed a scaup 'till I looked her up in my bird book:)

A large woodpecker clings to the side of a suet basket, eating the suet. A smaller junco sits on a branch just below with his head turned upwards to watch the woodpecker.

But, thought Jerry Junco, Will Rogers didn't know about suet!!

(Dark-eyed Junco waiting impatiently for Downy Woodpecker to finish her turn at the suet -- though could be Hairy Woodpecker, can't tell size of her beak.)
