Recology Cleanscapes provides garbage, recycling and organics collection service to the residents and businesses in the City of Shoreline.

During the holiday weeks, customers who normally receive service on Tuesdays will be collected on Wednesday. Customers who normally receive collection on Wednesday will be collected on Thursday. Customers who normally receive collection on Thursday will be collected on Friday, and customers who normally receive collection on Friday will be collected on Saturday.

For more information about holiday collection schedules, visit recology.com/shoreline.

Tips for a More Sustainable Holiday
  • The US EPA estimates between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, the amount of trash produced in the United States increases by an estimated 25%—that’s about one million extra tons of garbage each week. With a bit of proactive planning, you can waste less, save money and incorporate sustainable behaviors into your holiday traditions. Try some of our suggestions below for a more sustainable holiday season:
  • Reduce present packaging and waste by giving gifts of experience.
  • If you do want to decorate a present or package, reuse the trimmings (bows, tissue paper, bags) from last year.
  • Recycle right this holiday season by keeping recyclables empty, clean, and dry. Remember that most shiny or glittery wrapping paper is not-recyclable. Try using newspaper, cloth wrapping alternatives, or reusable bags!

Visit recology.com/shoreline for more information about collection schedules, service updates, and tips for reducing waste at home, work and school.

Recology Cleanscapes is a subsidiary of Recology, an employee-owned company that sees a world without waste, where resources are used and re-used in a sustainable ecosystem that strives for their best and highest use.

Thursday (Dec 27 and Jan 3) – Wednesday customers collected

Shoreline CleanScapes update - garbage pickup - maybe

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

CleanScapes provides garbage and recycling service to Shoreline.

Your garbage and recycling may or may not be picked up today in Shoreline - it depends on how accessible your street is.

CleanScapes cancelled Tuesday collections because of the road conditions and used some of their trucks to help with sanding and snow removal in Shoreline (see story).

Normally, that would push everyone ahead a day - Tuesday on Wednesday; Wednesday on Thursday, and so on.

They had already planned to be off on Thanksgiving and collect Thursday on Friday and Friday on Saturday.

They are putting their trucks on the road for the accessible residential areas, so Tuesday and Wednesday customers may get service, if they live in a flat area.

"Residential customers who do not receive service today should place all carts (garbage, recycle, food waste/yard debris) in the usual collection location on their next collection day.

"Residents can put out double the amount of garbage at no extra cost. Recycling and food waste/yard debris will be collected as usual."

CleanScapes will be providing limited commercial collection service.

If you do put your collection bins out, make sure they are out of the roadway.

Allied Waste update on garbage, recycling, yard waste - LFP

LFP is contracted with Allied Waste. Shoreline is contracted with CleanScapes.

From Allied Waste

Inclement Weather-Allied Waste Garbage Services-Wednesday November 24, 2010:

Commercial and Roll Off operations will be working in all areas. Critical services are being prioritized. Drivers are finding containers frozen to the ground and commodities frozen inside the containers. They are doing the best they can to completely empty containers.

Residential operations will not operate today, Wednesday, November 24,  due to dangerous road conditions.

If your Residential service for Garbage, Recycling, or Yard Waste is not collected our plan is to provide double the regular amount to be picked up on your next regular collection day.

If weather conditions prevent collection of garbage or recycling, please remove the containers from the street.

  • Up to twice the regular amount of garbage and/or food & yard waste will be accepted at no additional charge on the next regularly scheduled collection day for each container. Excess materials due to missed collection can be put in a temporary container, such as a box or paper bag marked "Garbage," "Recycling" or "Yard Debris There is no limit on the amount of accepted recyclables for collection.
  • No credit is given for delayed residential collection due to weather conditions, but up to twice the regular amount is accepted at no charge to compensate for the missed collection.
  • Every Other Week Recycling & Yard Waste Collected Two (2) weeks after Missed Collection: If recycling or yard waste is regularly collected every other week, the missed material will be collected on the next scheduled day for that container (two weeks from the missed collection), unless residents are otherwise notified by telephone or on this site

Allied Waste Services will be closed on Thursday for the holiday. Thursday's customers will be picked up on Friday and Friday's customers will be picked up on Saturday.

Lake Forest Park apparently escapes garbage strike

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The apparent settlement between the Allied Waste trash-collection company and its drivers means that the City of Lake Forest Park can cancel plans to delay garbage pickup.

Lake Forest Park officials had said earlier Wednesday that a possible strike would delay garbage pickup by only one day.

A strike would have not affected Shoreline, which gets garbage service from a different company.
