Gala and Live Auction to support Banchero Disability Partners

Monday, April 17, 2023

Banchero Disability Partners Heart and Soul Gala and Auction

For over 52 years, Banchero Disability Partners has empowered adults with disabilities to realize their potential, achieve their goals, and be active, contributing members of their communities.

They provide community-based support, safe and affordable housing, and case management from 24-hour in-home care to basic medical and financial assistance.

Please consider donating to our gala to be held on April 28, 2023, 5-10pm at Ballard Elks.

Because of your generosity, we are able to help our clients find housing in their own apartments, keep jobs, improve their physical and mental health, and have active social lives.

Your gift gives our clients the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest by funding our health and wellness initiatives, recreational and sporting activities, educational classes, our annual camping trip, and community gatherings for our clients, their families and staff.

But, most importantly, your donation gives us the ability to pay better wages and retain long-term, quality staff resulting in better care of our clients.

Our auction is our biggest fundraiser and brings together our clients and their families, staff, community partners, volunteers, and donors who support and share our values. Our Heart and Soul auction raises over $150,000. 93% of donations received go directly to client services!

Contact Executive Director, Carol Salter at carol@banchero.org with any questions about us, or about the auction. You can learn more and read about our clients and staff at www.banchero.org

Register, sponsor, or donate: https://banchero.org/heart-and-soul-auction You can be a sponsor even if you cannot attend in person.

for their commitment to bring behavioral health and family support services to their citizens by providing CHS with COVID-19 Relief Funds to open an office in Bothell and have three years of operating funds. The event was a huge success and fun for all involved.

Thank you for the community’s continued support of Center for Human Services helping build a stronger community, one family at a time. It has been an honor to serve the community for over 52 years.

Thank you to the many community partners that helped us raise essential funding.
  • To our incredible soup donors without which there would be no meal to share.
  • To all the amazing artisans, students, and local craftspeople that donate each and every one of our bowls.
  • To the many local businesses, museums, and neighbors that donate to our online auction.
  • Finally, the amazing crew of volunteers that help us plan and run Empty Bowls year after year.

Teams from all over Washington state participated, as well as multiple teams from Canada, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. Also represented were the states of California, Alaska, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Texas and more.

The registration for the event is capped at 2,000 individuals and fills up early every year.

This was the 32nd year for the event, which was started by a Shoreline fire captain, David Engler, (see his story here) who made his first climb in full gear in 1990 and challenged other firefighters to join him in 1992.

Even snow couldn't stop runners and lions at the Lunar New Year 5k fundraiser

Returning to Shoreline after two years of going virtual, the International Community Health Services (ICHS) Lunar New Year 5k fundraiser was back in-person last Sunday February 26, 2023.

Not even snow could keep attendees apart from the beloved local 5k run along the Interurban Trail. Over 300 walkers and runners of all ages joined in the event to raise charity funds to provide free and low-cost health services for uninsured ICHS patients.

"After two virtual years, our advocates and community members really showed up alongside us at the Lunar New Year 5k," said Christine Consolacion, Interim ICHS Foundation Executive Director.
"Not only did we fundraise for patient health services, it was also an occasion for us to celebrate being back together. As a community health center, our roots started with community and will continue to grow stronger within community."

Highlights included group warm-ups from local Personal Trainer and Running Coach Jackie Soo and a lion dance bringing attendees to the starting line before the race began.

This was the fifth in-person Lunar New Year 5k held by ICHS, and the fourth one held at the Interurban Trail in partnership with the City of Shoreline and local business Aurora Rents.

Right as the runners were on their final stretch to the finish line the sun broke through the clouds for a sunny, fortuitous lunar new year celebration.
