Friday, January 6, 2023

We wanted to share his music with the Puget Sound while helping out this beautiful community art space.”

An all-star cast of Seattle's most talented musicians will pay tribute to the late great George Harrison on what would have been his 80th birthday.

Players from great local bands like Apple Jam, The Nowhere Men, Wings -n- Things, Petty Thief, Wasted on the Way, Kings of Hollywood, Laurel Canyon Legacy, Rockfish and Friends, The Kellee Bradley Band, The Trailer Park Kings, Highway 9, and Herding Cats, to name just a few. Orangetheory Fitness raising funds for Redmond's Motley Zoo Animal Rescue

Friday, December 9, 2022

Through December 19, 2022, Orangetheory Fitness’ 18 locations across Washington state are throwing down in a friendly competition to raise lifesaving funds for Motley Zoo Animal Rescue.

The non-profit organization based in Redmond, Washington, is dedicated to rehabilitating, caring for and securing safe homes for animals through a foster and education system. Since 2009, they have placed thousands of pets in loving homes and work tirelessly to improve the lives of animals and reach their goal of ending all neglect and abuse against them.

Although Motley Zoo is strong, they were recently displaced from their current building due to structural issues making it uninhabitable. As the facility also offers programs such as dog daycare, training, and boarding to the community and their adoptable dogs, their physical location has become an integral part of the rescue and community. Now more than ever, they need resources to find and create this new safe space.

The partnership was inspired by local “pawlanthropist” @Dash.Dog whose owner, Ande Edlund, is a long-time Orangetheory (OTF) member and animal advocate. With Ande and Dash behind us, OTF is committed to supporting community members – human and four-legged – in need.

This holiday season, OTF’s 18 Washington locations are competing to raise the most funds for their Motley Zoo animal in need. The campaign runs now through December 19, 2022.

Meet the adorable Motley Zoo Adoptable Roadies each location is working out to support and donate to a Motley Zoo animal at this link: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MTcwMDA0.

The Shoreline Orangetheory gym is in Gateway Plaza at 18336 Midvale Ave N, Shoreline WA 98133.

Lights, Camera, Auction - help Shoreline Rotary raise funds for student scholarships

Tuesday, November 15, 2022

By Clarita Bhat

This message comes to you all with much appreciation and the best wishes for this lovely Season when we remember to be thankful for all we have.

This year I am chair of the Shoreline Rotary Auction committee. It is our main fundraiser, and will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the Innis Arden Clubhouse. (Information and tickets here)

I am now approaching you in the larger community for your help in this important event. I have been involved in the two previous auctions and have seen how you supported this effort.

The funds raised will help to continue our work for the community and even abroad. This year, besides those ongoing projects, we are focusing on Scholarships and the Canopy Scholars program.

These aim to assist students to be able to continue their education and to be brought up to speed in the very needed STEM area. It has been my passion for many years to try to help students and that is one of the reasons I am happy to chair the Auction.

I am very fortunate to have a super committee to work with.

On November 4, 2022 I attended the Student Success Lunch at Shoreline Community College in the company of a few of our club members. We listened to speeches telling us how difficult it is for many young people these days to afford college; tuition, books, housing, food and everything else needed. I was even more inspired to try to help.

Our Auction for 2023 will be a fun and inspirational event; the theme is: Lights, Camera, Auction and it will be a Hollywood, post-Oscars party.

Please spread the word to everyone. Consider procuring donations, contributing an item or giving a cash donation. Sponsorships are very important; contact me if you or your business can sponsor the event.

Thank you again!! Please send your thoughts and ideas to me and I will be sure to bring them to our committee. Many creative minds are among this group and we love to hear from you.

Olympic Ballet Theatre Autumn Auction and Costume Ball October 29, 2022

Olympic Ballet Theatre Gala October 29

Olympic Ballet Theatre (OBT) is jumpstarting its 2022-2023 performance season with an evening of philanthropy and pre-Halloween fun.

The 2022 Autumn Auction and Costume Ball is taking place at the Nile Shrine Center in Mountlake Terrace on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

This exciting fundraiser features a delightful dinner, live and silent auctions, performances of excerpts from the upcoming season, and opportunities to support OBT. The event is hosted by former FOX 13 anchor and reporter Matt Lorch.

As a nonprofit, OBT relies on the generous support of donors and sponsors to sustain its operations, and all funds raised will support the season’s productions.

OBT’s 2022-2023 performance season starts with the all-time holiday favorite The Nutcracker in December, spotlights new works in February’s Debuts, brings back the timeless fairytale of The Sleeping Beauty in May, and culminates in an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary ballets in June’s Summer Performance.

“Autumn Auction and Costume Ball is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we are looking forward to finally gathering with our supporters in person after several years of canceled or virtual events,” said Mara Vinson and Oleg Gorboulev, OBT Artistic Directors.
“This event is just a few days before Halloween, so it’s a fun opportunity for guests to dress up in costumes (or just dress up), see previews of the season’s performances, and have a wonderful time supporting the arts.”

Event tickets are $100 per person or $750 per table of eight. Guests can register for the event at
https://www.olympicballet.org/performance-season/autumn-auction-and-costume-ball/

Olympic Ballet Theatre is an emerging nonprofit ballet company presenting four productions of classical and contemporary ballets each season.

About Old Dog Haven

Old Dog Haven is a small nonprofit group using a large network of foster homes to provide a loving safe home for abandoned senior dogs in western Washington.

When we have room and the means, we take these dogs into our homes. We adopt out those dogs with a reasonable life-expectancy. We care for the rest as members of the family in permanent foster homes (what we call “Final Refuge”) for as long as they have good quality of life. In addition, we try to assist owners in finding new homes for their senior dogs through our website and referrals.
