SAFE is a new initiative with a simple and far-reaching goal: to keep kids in school by removing barriers for students who are living with a low income or experiencing a financial and/or family crisis.

The SAFE program will act as a lifeline, providing immediate help for basic needs and emergency support.

Below are a few examples of what the support will fund:
  • Gift cards for groceries, gas, and necessities
  • School supplies

Noodle's Pet Remembrance Campaign

Tuesday, July 2, 2024

July 5th is Pet Remembrance Day, and Seattle Area Feline Rescue (SAFe Rescue) invites animal lovers to join them for a month-long tribute to furred, finned, and feathered family members who have passed on.

Inspired by her beloved tabby named Noodle, an anonymous community member will match every donation to SAFe Rescue made via this link, up to $17,000.

In addition to having their donation to kitties in need matched, dollar for dollar, supporters will also be able to share photos and memories of dearly departed pets on an online memorial page.

Noodle

“Noodle brought a lifetime of love to us,” said Noodle’s human. “Every day was better with him. He is my soul cat and I know that I’m not the only one who has been blessed with a soulmate in animal form, so I wanted to create this match fund in loving memory of the seventeen wonderful years we had together and also give others the chance to honor their beloved pets.”

The online memorial, named after Noodle, provides a space for the community to celebrate the pets who have walked, played, and cuddled through their lives. Anyone who makes a donation is encouraged to contribute stories and images of the animals they wish to remember.

Noodle’s Pet Remembrance Campaign will accept submissions through July 31, 2024.

An evening of East Indian music performed by Pran to benefit World Central Kitchen

Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Bothell, WA: On Tuesday June 18th at 7:30pm, Bothell Odd Fellows will present an evening of East Indian music performed by Pran to benefit World Central Kitchen.

Suggested donation is $10 at the door. The performance will be at the Clover Leaf Rebekah Hall, 10116 NE 185th St, Bothell.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. PRAN is trombonist Greg Powers performing the deeply meditative style of Dhrupad. Since his Fulbright to India in 1988, Powers has studied the Dagarbhani tradition both here and in Mumbai. He has studied with Ustads Zia Fariduddin Dagar, Jeff Lewis, Uday Bhawalkar and Bahauddin Dagar. He is a pioneer in adapting this ancient tradition to the trombone.

Odd Fellows have been the social heart of communities across America for over 200 years. Bothell Lodge #124, the longest continuously operating organization in Bothell, has been holding meetings for over 130 years. Clover Leaf Rebekah Lodge #54 was chartered in 1893 so that the wives and daughters of Odd Fellows, and others in the community, could become a part of the Odd Fellows organization.

Bothell Odd Fellows owned the Bothell Pioneer Cemetery before its transfer to the City of Bothell and is looking for community members to join to assist the city in its upkeep. For more information contact Penny Curtis, Secretary, bothelloddfellows@gmail.com

About the Festival

The Edmonds Arts Festival has been a cherished event in Edmonds since 1958.

Tens of thousands of people flock to this event held annually on Father’s Day weekend to browse the galleries, meet artists, shop, socialize with friends, and be entertained by local performing artists in a beautiful setting in the charming, waterfront city of Edmonds – home of the first certified Creative District in Washington state.

A portion of profits raised by the Festival each year is given to the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, which supports educational and cultural enrichment of our community through the arts.

The Foundation awards art scholarships, education grants, and installs public art.

In addition, they support ArtWorks, a gathering place for artists in downtown Edmonds, and many other local art groups including the Edmonds Center for the Arts, the Edmonds Art Studio Tour, Edmonds Waterfront Center, and Cascadia Art Museum.

This year, Edmonds Arts Festival runs June 14-16, 2024 (Friday and Saturday 10am-7pm, Sunday 10am-5pm) at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds.

Save yourself the hassle of trying to find street parking and utilize the free Festival shuttle at Edmonds College! You can park your car in the parking lot at Edmonds College on the west side of 68th Ave W. Just enter from the roundabout on 204th St SW and follow the signs to designated patron parking lots H, I or J. Then jump on one of the free shuttles that run every 15 minutes from Edmonds College to the Edmonds Art Festival in downtown Edmonds.
