Letter to the Editor: Call to all Food Trucks!

Tuesday, July 18, 2023

To the Editor:

Call to all Food Trucks!

Several times a year Shoreline Washington hosts various events and fairs in local parks that include the casual delight that is food truck fare. However now there may be an opportunity for more regular business for these much loved visitors.

With the destruction of Lena’s Cafe in North City there has become a lack in eatery options in the area between Lake City Way, Ballinger Way, 145th Ave, and Aurora Avenue.

While several brick and mortar eateries remain open in this large area that includes residential neighborhoods, numerous public parks, schools, and the future location of a Light Rail station, there is plenty of potential business to support additional sources.

As a resident of this area I am putting out the call to all mobile food vendors saying ‘Welcome, we would love to have you’ and hope to see more of them this summer.

Food cart on Aurora shut down for lack of a valid food business permit

Thursday, July 7, 2022

Photo by nikko osaka on Unsplash.com
If you are missing your favorite food cart, which had been operating at 14333 Aurora Ave N, it was closed by a Public Health food inspector on July 3, 2022 at 8:00pm for operating without a valid food business permit.

The cart will be reopened when the inspector confirms that the person in charge of the business fulfills the requirements to secure a mobile food service business permit per the instructions online at www.kingcounty.gov/foodsafety/mobile

Since this is a licensing issue and not a food safety issue, the food cart is not named.

Starting November 1, brunch food trucks are in Ridgecrest every Sunday 9 am to 2 pm

Thursday, October 29, 2020

Sunny Up Seattle

Starting November 1, brunch food trucks are in Ridgecrest every Sunday 9am to 2pm.

Ridgecrest Public House turns five years old this November 1, 2020 and has been hosting food trucks nightly for all of those five years. Its new sister, the Drumlin, opened on October 1 this year.

We are starting Sunday brunch trucks on November 1st. We will alternate between these two trucks:

Sunny Up Seattle, serving various egg sandwiches named after famous women, as well as hash browns and donuts. The chef has run several notable restaurants, including Doe Bay Resort and Carmelita. (November 1, 15, 29 and beyond)

Panda Dim Sum, serving dim sum brunch. Dim sum is a breakfast tradition, and the owners have been cooking dim sum for years in San Francisco as well as Seattle.

They are serving buns, rice packets, and more, plus congee and even sourdough waffles for good measure, all out of a small converted yellow school bus. (November 8, 22 and beyond)

You can take your food to go or bring it into the Drumlin nearby, where we are serving coffee (drip, pourover, AeroPress, and French press for two) plus a variety of teas, juices, some beer and cider cocktails and our usual draft and wine menu.

We have socially distanced seating on our front and back patio and in our roomy and socially distanced interior. Reservations are not needed, but we'll happily take them. Email us at joinus@drumlin.pub or call or text us at 206-775-BEER.

The Drumlin is located at 522 NE 165th Street, near the Crest Theatre in Shoreline.

Sweet Alchemy ice cream cart at Downtown Ridgecrest this Friday

Thursday, September 5, 2019

Life is short - eat dessert first
Sweet Alchemy at the Ridgecrest Pub Friday
The locally owned Sweet Alchemy ice cream cart returns to the sidewalk in front of Ridgecrest Public House this Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5-9pm.

They are going to sweeten up the end of the first week that many of us returned to school with some back to school theme flavors.

The regularly scheduled food truck that will also be on site this Friday is Dojotogo, a "Chino Latino" fusion truck in the same culinary family as the three brick and mortar restaurants Bar Dojo, Mar-ket, and Salt and Iron, all in Edmonds.

Ridgecrest Public House, 520 NE 165th St, Shoreline 98155 is open 2pm - 12am on Fridays.

The pub is 21+, and alcohol must stay on premises, but there are picnic tables adjacent to the pub patio that are all ages.

The full food truck menu for this month is on the Ridgecrest Public House website.

The weather didn’t keep people away from sampling food from three food trucks: Tabassum, Yummy 8 and Auntie’s Family Kitchen which pitched in at the last minute. Music from the popular steel drum band Toucans helped round out the evening.

If you were unable to attend, don’t worry, you’ll get a second chance next Wednesday, August 28th
