ShoreLake Arts will once again hold this event in a virtual space in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect our community. We appreciate and thank all of you for your understanding and ability to adapt along with us. Now, let’s talk about the Edible Book Festival!

Do you have an idea for a mouthwatering manuscript? A succulent storybook? A “punny'' take on a literary favorite? Then register your Edible Book project on the ShoreLake Arts website by Friday, March 26, 2021 and whip up something to tickle our tastebuds (and maybe our funny bones).


Your creation should be inspired by a book, or a pun on a book title, and made out of edible ingredients—sweet or savory. It may look like a book, tablet, or scroll... or be completely unique. Check out www.pinterest.com for inspiration. It’s free to participate and you’ll be eligible to win fabulous prizes from Third Place Books!

Adults and Youth may register. Youth entries are highly encouraged, maybe part of a book report for school? Kids get crafty - Join us and create some Edible Books! Yes, that's right... a book you can eat! A perfect place for book lovers to come together and create either edible things relating to books, or an edible book itself! Registration is entirely online and don’t forget to take a digital photo and upload to the form.

Our judges will rate and review all of the submissions through March 27 and 28. Plus, we need YOUR vote for the People's Choice Awards - voting will open online from 9am Saturday, March 27, to 4pm, Sunday, March 28. We will announce the winners via a live stream Sunday, March 28 on Facebook Live (winners will be posted on this page shortly afterwards).

Thank you to everyone who participated! 

The Edible Book Festival carried on this past weekend with some amazing virtual energy from our community and many others from out of state! Many thanks to all of you for getting creative in the kitchen and supporting this event's move to an online format.

There were 64 total submissions and over 500 people’s choice award votes! That’s a dynamite turnout. And thank you to everyone who made donations this year. The arts in our community truly appreciates it during this time of uncertainty. Thank you!

Edible Book Festival - Vote Now

Vote for the People’s Choice Award until 4pm Sunday


The Edible Book Festival has opened up its online voting for the People’s Choice Award for both adult and youth entries. This year there were a total of 65 edible book submissions! Many thanks to all of you for getting creative in the kitchen and supporting this event's move to an online format. Afterall, you can’t quarantine creativity!

All of the culinary creations have been inspired by a book, or a pun on a book title, and made out of edible ingredients (some exceptions) —sweet or savory. It may look like a book, tablet, or scroll... or be completely unique.

We need YOUR vote for the People's Choice Awards - voting will be open online from 8am Saturday, April 4th, to 4pm, Sunday, April 5th. 

We will announce the winners via a live stream Sunday, April 5 on Facebook live at 5pm PST (winners will be posted immediately afterwards).

Our jurors will rate all the submissions over the weekend. Categories include, Most PUNderful, Most Book-like, Most Visually Appealing, Judges Choice Award, and People’s Choice Award.

We came, we saw, and we consumed! Thank you so much for making the 7th Annual Edible Book Festival one for the books (haha). It was a true delight seeing all of the community support and involvement, which included 29 registrations this year from both adults and youth!

Part literary, part culinary, part artistic, and all edible, the Edible Book Festival is sure to tickle your taste buds and your funny bone! This edible art exhibition will feature “books,” made of food and inspired by a book or pun on a book title, that are exhibited, documented, and then devoured.

The event will be held at Third Place Commons in the Lake Forest Park Town Center on Saturday, April 6 at 11am, and is free and open to the public.

Come out and enjoy the mouthwatering manuscripts, or brave your apron to create your own succulent storybook. Your creation should be inspired by a book, but made out of edible ingredients—sweet or savory.

It may look like a book, tablet, or scroll... or be completely unique. Check out www.pinterest.com for inspiration, and then register your delectable literary creation in person at 10:45am on the day of the event (April 6). Or you can register online by Friday, April 5!

This is an all ages event and books will be judged in the following categories:

(Entries will be judged in two age brackets: Adult and K-12)

1. Most PUNderful
2. Most Book-Like (Looks and/or Functions Like a Real Book)
3. Most Visually Appealing (Most Delectably Appetizing)
4. Judges’ Choice Award (Special Judges’ Award)
5. People’s Choice Award

Everyone present can vote for the People’s Choice Award!

10:45am – Check in. Bring your culinary creation (along with the book that was your inspiration) and appropriate serving utensils to Third Place Commons. We will provide plates, napkins, and forks.

12pm-1pm – Voting for People’s Choice Award

1pm-1:15pm – Tallying

1:15pm – Prizes Awarded

1:30pm – Consume the Edible Books!

Edible Book Festival is this Saturday

Part literary, part culinary, part artistic, and all edible, the Edible Book Festival is sure to tickle your taste buds and your funny bone! This edible art exhibition will feature “books,” made of food and inspired by a book or pun on a book title, that are exhibited, documented, and then devoured.

The event will be held at Third Place Commons in the Lake Forest Park Town Center on Saturday, April 7 at 11am, and is free and open to the public.

Come out and enjoy the mouthwatering manuscripts, or brave your apron to create your own succulent storybook.

Your creation should be inspired by a book, but made out of edible ingredients—sweet or savory. It may look like a book, tablet, or scroll... or be completely unique. Register your delectable literary creation in person at 10:45am on the day of the event (Saturday, April 7).

This is an all ages event and books will be judged in the following categories:

• Most PUNderful
• Most Book-like
• Most Visually Appealing
• Judges Choice Award
• People’s Choice Award

Entries will be judged in two age brackets: Adult and K-12.

This year’s judges include

Schedule:
  • 10:45am – Check in. Bring your creation (along with the book that was your inspiration) and appropriate serving utensils to Third Place Commons. We will provide plates, napkins, and forks.
  • 11am-12pm – Photography
  • 12pm-1pm – Judging
  • 12pm-1pm – Voting for People’s Choice Award
  • 1pm-1:15pm – Tallying
  • 1:15pm – Prizes Awarded
  • 1:30pm – Consume the Edible Books!

Readers, start your ovens! It’s time for the Edible Book Festival, a consumable art exhibition featuring “books” made of food that are displayed, documented, and then devoured.
