Scramblers ready to go hunting, Copyright, Marc Weinberg

Text and photos by Marc Weinberg

Innis Arden hosted their annual Easter Egg Scramble on Saturday, March 30, 2012 throughout the grounds of their club house and play field. There were more than 100 'scramblers' and older helpers of all ages, Moms, Dads and Grandparents.

Grandma helped search for prizes, too.

The day was beautiful; the air was crisp and sunny and the contestants were anxious to get going.  Some practiced before the event even got started.

The photos tell the story. Everyone was a winner and all the prizes were hidden within the brightly colored plastic eggs which will be 're-scrambled' next year to another group of eager hunters.

On Thursday, April 5th, Richmond Beach Congregational Church will be celebrating Maundy Thursday, or the last supper, with a unique art piece. It’s called Jesus’ Table of Welcome and the artist is Kris Garratt of University Congregational Church, UCC.

The table has pictures of food and communion hymns on the top of it. Around the table are 13 chairs, one of which is Jesus’ chair. The other twelve chairs are intended to represent segments of society that have been considered outcast. During the service, we will hear from each of these outcasts and welcome them and everyone else to the table.

The community is invited to join us in this service. All are truly welcome!

Other opportunities for worship this coming weekend include a meditation time on Good Friday, April 6th from 12-3 in our sanctuary; the Easter sunrise service at the Saltwater Park at 6AM; and worship service with wonderful music at 10am at the church. Between the services on Sunday, the youth group will be serving a pancake breakfast.

No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome to join us!

St. Barnabas Anglican Church Celebrates Easter after Holy Week Services

St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Shoreline will celebrate the joy of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 8.

There will be only one service at 9 a.m. Easter brunch will follow the celebration of Holy Communion.

Our Shoreline neighbors are invited to join us then, and for all services during Holy Week – as the passion of the Christ and His death are remembered – leading to Easter morning.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on April 1, which start with the blessing of the palms and the procession recalling Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

On Maundy Thursday, April 5, a service of Holy Communion at 7 p.m. will commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus and the apostles before His crucifixion.

A silent prayer vigil at the Alter of Repose will follow this service and continue until noon Good Friday, April 6.

Two services of the Stations of the Cross, when the steps of Jesus on the way to his death are retraced, will be at noon and 7 p.m. on Good Friday.

A service of New Light with Holy Community at 7 p.m. on Holy Saturday, April 7, celebrates the transition from the darkness of Jesus in the tomb to the miracle of his Easter Resurrection.
