Shoreline Dusk to Dawn: Central Market

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Photos and text by Wayne Pridemore

A great number of Shoreline residents indicated that Central Market is their favorite supermarket.

On the store's Facebook site many post the reason; vast depth of selection of seafood, produce, meat, cheeses, baked goods, wine, beer, and ethnic food.

The fresh baked in store tortillas are a special favorite as are the chicken pot pies.

While most of the people shop during daylight hours and on weekends you will find those who visit the market later in the evening hours.

Photos: Dusk to Dawn - The Cabin

The Cabin Tavern in Richmond Beach is the subject of this Dusk to Dawn photo by Wayne Pridemore. The Cabin has had a long life and many changes of clientele, starting as a bootlegger's headquarters during Prohibition.

Now it's a pleasant place to sit among the flowers on the patio on a summer's day and the pool table inside is always in use.

The Cabin is across the street from Puget Sound, at 19322 Richmond Beach Dr NW, Shoreline 98177.

Blue Bridge 1

Here's a view that most people don't get to dwell on because you have to be on foot, under the bridge, at night.

This is, of course, the signature Blue Bridge crossing Aurora at about 155th. The bicycle and pedestrian bridge takes the Interurban Trail across Aurora.

The photo is part of Wayne Pridemore's Dusk to Dawn series. Check the features section in the first column of the front page for the link to other photos in the series.

Shoreline Dusk to Dawn: Central Market

Friday, August 5, 2016

Shoreline's Central Market gleams against a darkening sky. The parking lot is empty but the interior of the store glows with light. The neon sign comes into its own in the dark with its letters marching sturdily across the front of the store.

The coffee silo is dark inside. The steel exterior reflects parking lot lights. Hanging baskets of flowers march into the darkness.

Wayne Pridemore adds to his collection of Shoreline after dark series: Dusk to Dawn.

OFF TO WORK by Kimberly Fine

Early in the morning I wake up bright.

I wish I was sleeping there is no light.

Now the day ahead is routine at best.

I’ll get some coffee there will be no rest.

Off to work I go still thinking of night.

Wayne Pridemore has been fascinated by night photos - the way the shadow and light makes everything look more dramatic and mysterious at night.
