Cascade Music is excited to offer small-group piano lessons at Shoreline Community College! 

Your child will learn and grow with one of the area’s most sought-after instructors, Dr. Jensina Oliver. Sessions cover rhythm, notation, singing, and early keyboard/piano training. Classes will take place at the 800 Building Music.

Jensina Oliver, D.M.A, has been an Associate Faculty member at Shoreline Community College Music Department since 1998. Dr. Oliver teaches all levels of individual piano lessons and class piano courses, as well as First Year Music Theory and Aural Skills. 

Dr. Oliver received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano at the University of Washington. She performs regularly, including concert engagements in Europe, North America, Costa Rica, and China. She loves working with students of all ages and frequently gives teacher training workshops. She is in high demand as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Cascade Music: Keyboard Discoveries Summer Camp at Shoreline Community College

Pianist Dr. Jensina Oliver will guide students in activities such as rhythmic reading and rhythm games, ear training with familiar songs, creativity with chords, notation and drawing, piano teams (duets and trios), and mini-lessons. There will be a recital performance for friends and family during the final hour on Friday. 

Previous completion of method book primer level reading required. Mid-Elementary through Early Intermediate students.

Chinese summer camp for for 9 to 15-year-olds

The Chinese Summer Program is suitable for 9 to 15-year-olds at a beginner's level, with limited or no Chinese language experience. 
The summer program provides a structured framework around key Chinese locations, supported by accompanying videos. It serves as a stimulating starting point for exploring Chinese history and culture. 

The instructor will pack every day with language content and classroom games. It's a chance for young learners to have a taste of the Chinese culture and learn primary Mandarin.

The content of this program is aligned to the requirements for the Youth Chinese Test (YCT) Level One.

The class is part of the continuing education program at Shoreline Community College and will be held on campus at 16101 Greenwood Ave N, Shoreline WA 98133.

Introduction to Mosaic Art

This class offers a comprehensive introduction to mosaic techniques, guiding students through the process of creating their own unique mosaic pieces, whether it be a decorative wall hanging, coaster, candleholder or a vase for the garden. 

Through hands-on practice and expert guidance, participants will unleash their creativity and learn to transform ordinary materials into extraordinary works of art. Supplies included but students can also bring their own tiles upon approval of the instructor. 15+

Offered through the Continuing Education department of Shoreline Community College there are three different classes ranging in time from 2-5 hours.

College and Fire partner to offer two week course "Introduction to Fire Services"

Shoreline Community College and Center for Education and Career Opportunities (CECO) is offering this two week course "Introduction to Fire Services" in partnership with Shoreline Fire Department. 

This hands-on class will certify you in First Aid/CPR in addition to teaching lifting techniques, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other tools of the fire service. 

Basic search and rescue techniques will be explored along with Security topics. If you are interested in career in fire service or general emergency service, sign up today! For students 16+ and adults.

CPR/First Aid certification w/WestCoast Training

The purpose of the CPR and First Aid training program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in First Aid, CPR, and AED skills. 

We will learn how to help adult, child, and infant patients in emergency situations, including injuries and medical emergencies. 

This hybrid course is provided in partnership with Shoreline Community College, WestCoast CPR Training and the Health and Safety Institute.

Participants will learn CPR and First Aid initially with a comprehensive 4 hour online training course. 

Once registered, you will be sent the instructions to log in to take the 4 hour online training before the in-person training.

The training will conclude with a fun and interactive hands-on practice class at Shoreline Community College. The in-person portion will provide the opportunity to practice adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and some basic first aid skills. 

Upon successfully completing this course, participants will receive an adult, child, and infant CPR/AED. First Aid certification card valid for 2 years. Join us and learn the confidence and skills necessary to save lives! For 16+ students and adults of all ages.

Work on building a continual source of color in your landscape with resilient evergreens, colorful shrubs, bulbs, roots and perennial flowers to use in a layered design. 

Participants can bring picture arrangements of interest to help with planning.

This class is part of a series with expert gardener, landscape designer and water ecologist Kathy Anderson. 

She has extensive experience in site assessments and rain garden designs for residential properties, and is a hands-on consultant through her business, Bountiful Landscapes.

The instructor is former Shoreline Area News columnist Brian Boston.
