Team Pronto, a resilient and determined robotics team composed of Shorewood and Shorecrest students, faced formidable challenges at the recent District Championship Event this last weekend.

Despite statistically having one of the most challenging schedules among the 50 competing teams, Team Pronto showcased their tenacity and skill, maintaining a remarkable 15th place ranking in the district.

KEEP BOTHELL ODD - Open house April 16, 2024

Friday, April 5, 2024

Bothell, WA: On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 7:30pm, Bothell Lodge #124 of the International Order of Odd Fellows will host an open house, the second in a series of three.

This evening’s presentation will be “The Odd (Fellows) History of Burying Bothell’s Pioneers”.

The presentation in May will be on Bothell’s Civil War history given by Richard Heisler. Learn about Odd Fellowship, its mission to bury the dead, and the Bothell Pioneer Cemetery. Historical artifacts, a tour of the hall, musical entertainment, and light refreshments available.

Odd Fellows have been the social heart of communities across America for over 200 years. Bothell Lodge #124, chartered in 1892, played a significant role in the history of Bothell, and today is the longest continuously operating organization in Bothell.

The first public cemetery in Bothell was created in 1889 on land donated by George Wilson so two children, whose family was visiting, could be buried. Since then, George Wilson himself and many other early Bothell settlers have been buried there.

Bothell Odd Fellows, along with the Macabees, took ownership of the cemetery in 1909 and ran it until the 1990s when membership in the organizations dwindled and the city took ownership. Odd Fellowship remains unbroken in Bothell and the lodge is looking forward to sharing its history and its future with members of our community.

How to Plant a Prune-less Garden April 9, 2024 at Lake Forest Park

Christina Pfeiffer will speak on April 9
April 9, 2024 with guest speaker Christina Pfeiffer at the Lake Forest Park Garden Club

How much and what kind of pruning a garden will need is often determined while shopping a nursery or at the design drawing board.

As gardeners mature along with their gardens, the level of pruning may no longer match one's time or energy for the task.

This talk will help identify how plant choices, placement and cultivation practices along with those famous last words. "I can always prune it to keep it smaller" contributing to a prune-a-lot garden.

Whether you are starting a whole new landscape or making changes within an established garden, learn how to optimize plant selection and design elements to help set the stage for less pruning over the long term.

We meet at LFP Town Center located at Bothell and Ballinger Way NE. General meeting starts at 9:30am, then a short break for treats and the speaker starts at 10:30am to 11:30am.

We welcome new members and experienced gardeners. We meet from Sept to May for our regular meetings and then we also have A Christmas party, A Garden Party and a small tour of three or so members yards followed by a brown bag lunch.

Dues are $35.00 a year. You may attend two meeting for free to see if you like the club and then we ask that you join.

Thanks and hope to see you there.

Oh and on May 18th is our annual plant sale.

Noteworthy was the strategic alliance forged by our Scouting Captain, Kirill Huizenga, uniting Team CPR from Cedar Park Christian School and Team Aldernating Current from Shelton School District. Together, these three teams navigated unforeseen challenges with grace and resilience.

Despite an initial setback in the first match, Team Pronto rallied admirably, ultimately clinching victory at the Pacific Northwest District Event. Keep Bothell ODD

Wednesday, March 6, 2024

Bothell, WA: On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 7:30pm, Bothell Lodge #124 of the International Order of Odd Fellows, will host an open house, the first in a series of three.

This evening’s presentation will be “Mr Bothell, secret handshakes, and the heart of the community”.

Presentations in April and May will be on Bothell’s Civil War history and on the Bothell Pioneer Cemetery. Learn about Bothell history and its relationship with Odd Fellows and other social and fraternal organizations. Historical artifacts, a tour of the hall, musical entertainment by The Swingin’ Patriarchs, and light refreshments will be available.

Odd Fellows have been the social heart of communities across America for over 200 years. Bothell Lodge #124, chartered in 1892, played a significant role in the history of Bothell, and today is the longest continuously operating organization in Bothell.

Its founding members include John Moore, Frank Frost, B. L. Anderson, John Bothell, Charles W. Lantham, and James Brackett (of Brackett’s Landing).

Cloverleaf Rebekah Lodge #54 was chartered in 1893 so that the wives and daughters of Odd Fellows, and any other interested women in the community, could become a part of the Odd Fellows organization.

Early Rebekahs also played an active role in the growing Bothell community, with one of the founders, Alice Bothell, having previously organized Bothell’s first Sunday School in her home in 1885.

Since the founding of these two lodges by Bothell pioneers, there have been many contributions and a few challenges.

The Odd Fellows took over management of the Bothell Pioneer Cemetery in 1902 on land donated by George Wilson, In 1908 a fire in Bothell burned down the original Odd Fellows lodge hall along with several other buildings, destroying both lodge and city records.

The current hall, 10116 NE 185th Street, was built in 1911 and is currently owned and operated by the Cloverleaf Rebekah Lodge #55.

A report of the lodge’s possible demise was published in the Northshore Citizen on 4/4/1990, but to paraphrase Mark Twain, the report of its death was greatly exaggerated.

The (secret) grip of Odd Fellowship remains unbroken in Bothell, and the lodge is looking forward to sharing its history and its future with members of our community.

Eastside CHADD online meeting Thursday: ADHD and Co-Regulation

Wednesday, February 28, 2024

Join Eastside CHADD for a free Zoom Meeting
February 29, 2024
Zoom Talk 7 - 8:30 p.m.: ADHD and Co-Regulation

We all strive for self-regulation. We teach our children independence as early as they can manage. We hold our emotions in check on a bad day at work, and we encourage our teens to make good choices.

Yet, as social beings, our brains and nervous systems are wired for connection and co-regulation – even as adults.

Presenter and ADHD Coach, Julie Principe, will define co-regulation and briefly review how recent brain science and nervous system research illuminates our need for connection.

Through the stories of three people with ADHD: a Kindergarten student, a middle school student and a young adult, Julie will share science-based co-regulation strategies for overcoming barriers to flexibility, task initiation, organization, and emotional regulation. She breaks down the process of co-regulation into three parts: setting the stage, support “in the moment”, and reflection.

She will talk about the path from co-regulation to self-regulation, and how as parents and educators, we can walk with our children and students until they can walk on their own.

Julie Principe is an ADHD Coach, International Speaker and Educational Consultant in British Columbia, Canada. As a coach, she helps adult and teen “ADHDers” understand their own version of ADHD in a self-compassionate way, so that they have more agency and can live more powerfully in a world designed for neurotypical people.

Please send your questions prior to the meeting to info@eastside-chadd.org.
