The Lake Forest Park Police Department partnered with the Shoreline Police Department, Kenmore Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol to put on the annual Shop with a Cop program.

"Our annual Shop with a Cop was better than ever. So many smiles, so many warm hearts and so much fun.
"We couldn’t pull this off without our generous community members including the Lake Forest Park Rotary, Albertsons, Starbucks, and so many others."

This was the 4th Annual “Holiday Heroes – Shop with a Cop” that served 14 families from the Shoreline School District.

--Brookside Elementary
--Lake Forest Park Elementary
--Briarcrest Elementary
--Meridian Park Elementary
--Ridgecrest Elementary

The children were nominated by their Family Advocates. Each child was paired with an officer to shop for needed family items.

The presents were brought back to City Hall where they were wrapped and the kids were treated to lunch.

"Such a heartwarming experience for the officers and staff that helped to put this event on."

Boys with Bows having fun at Shop with a Cop

Photos from Lake Forest Park Police

The annual Shop with a Cop took place on December 24, 2018 with participants from Lake Forest Park Police, Shoreline Police, and Washington State Patrol.

Group photo before shopping

The cops and kids spent time together in Target, where the kids shopped for presents for themselves and their families.

Wrapping party

Back at the LFP station, everyone had lunch, and then wrapped all the presents.

Probably ok that Officer Coleman has non-standard head gear
as Chief Sutton is right behind him.

It wasn't all business - there was time for a little silliness and fun.

Wide-eyed wonder - and a cute hat!
LFP Police said that this year was better than ever.

"So many smiles, so many warm hearts and so much fun.

"We couldn’t pull this off without our generous community members including the Lake Forest Park Rotary, Albertsons, Starbucks and so many others."

A whole group of kids got to give presents to the people they loved - and they had a wonderful experience to remember.

The Wexford Carol on You Tube
from Chonday.com

Yo-Yo Ma and Alison Krauss, The Wexford Carol - follow the link to hear this ancient carol, sung by Alison Krauss, accompanied by Yo Yo Ma, a bagpipe, and a bodhran.

According to the YouTube channel Chonday.com:

"The Wexford Carol is a traditional religious Irish Christmas carol originating from County Wexford.

"The subject of the song is the nativity of Jesus Christ. The Wexford Carol,” sometimes known by its first verse “Good people all this Christmas time,” is one of the oldest extant Christmas carols.

"The song achieved a renewed popularity due to the work of William Grattan Flood (1859-1928), who was organist and musical director at St. Aidan’s Cathedral in Enniscorthy. He transcribed the carol from a local singer and had it published in the Oxford Book of Carols, putting Enniscorthy into most carol books around the world."

Happy Holidays Everyone! - regular programming will return after Christmas.

Steve Robinson: On the shore waiting for the Christmas ships

Gathering around the bonfire

Photos by Steven H. Robinson

While Wayne Pridemore was on the dock in Edmonds (see previous story) with the Christmas ships, Steve Robinson was onshore with the people who had gathered for the annual visit of the ships at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

The choir from St. Luke parish school sings

It was a cold night, but they always build a huge bonfire on the beach to help keep everyone warm.

The choir from St. Luke's came to sing carols and volunteers from the Richmond Beach Community Association had hot cocoa.

I saw two ships coming sailing in...

The crowd gathered on the beach, facing the water, to watch the ships come in to Saltwater Park.

The lead boat and the follow boat
are both operated by Argosy Cruises

The ships were beautiful, arriving out of the darkness with their lights and the music of the choir coming across the water.

Wayne Pridemore: On the Christmas ship

Singers from the Center for Spiritual Living choir

Photos by Wayne Pridemore

Wednesday, December 12, 2018 was the annual sailing of the Argosy Christmas ships from Edmonds to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park.

This year, photographer Wayne Pridemore was on the boat.

The Argosy Christmas ships Spirit of Seattle and Goodtime docked at the Edmonds Marina. They were getting ready to load their passengers and cruise south to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park for their annual visit.

Center for Spiritual Living choir

The choir for this sailing was from the Center for Spiritual Living. Wayne got a group pose before they boarded the ship.

Once on the boat, guests sat at tables and looked at the view through the wrap around windows, while the choir sang seasonal music.

The Edmonds marina was brightly decorated as were many of the boats. It was very cold on deck so this couple figured out a couple of ways to keep warm.

Some boat owners go all out with decorations, particularly if they are live-aboards.

Once at Saltwater Park the boats remained fairly far offshore but had loudspeakers to broadcast the choir music.

Steve Robinson was part of the crowd waiting on the beach - see article
