1932 Ford

Photos by Steven H. Robinson

The annual car show at Richmond Beach Rehab, part of the Richmond Beach Celebration on Saturday, May 11, 2019, had some beauties.

This 1932 Ford drew the attention of little boys and big boys alike.

1940 Chevrolet panel truck

1940 Chevrolet panel truck

This probably was not the original color of this 1940 Chevrolet panel truck, but it sure looked good!

1941 Chevrolet Cabriolet

A 1941 Chevrolet Cabriolet holds its own against a sportier model. Probably fewer than 250 in the U.S. exist in this stock condition.

1954 Mercury Sun Valley

1954 Mercury Sun Valley

1954 Mercury Sun Valley with factory glass roof owned by Herb Bender of Mukilteo. He calls it "Taz" because it appeared the same year as the Taz cartoon character, which Herb also loves.

Airstream trailer and station wagon

Owners of Airstream trailers belonged to a national club and used to travel together in long convoys of gleaming aluminum. They were more fun to count than cows!

Local 104 mural - Flashback vehicle identified - sort of

Thursday, January 17, 2019

Mural by Andy Eccleshall
Local 104 in LFP

By Diane Hettrick

We published this photo alongside one out of Judith Muilenburg's photo album (see previous article). Knowing there are many classic car buffs around, I asked readers to identify the car.

Responses were not unanimous. Chevy - yes, mid-1950s - yes. The specific year and model were more challenging but most said 1956 or 1957.

I checked with Local 104 and discovered that the mural artist was Andy Eccleshall of The Mural Works in Edmonds. Andy is the artist for the "Echo in Time" mural of Echo Lake history on the Holyrood wall by Ballinger Commons, across from Lake Ballinger.

So I went to the source and asked Andy what car it was. He had to look it up.

Andy says the car is a "stylized representation of a late 50s Chevy Impala wagon, though it could also be a Chevy Belair wagon or Chevy Brookwood wagon from the same era. There are a lot of similarities from the front. I've taken a few liberties with it though."

So apparently you are all correct. Good job!

Attention Classic Car fans: Drager's Classic Cars of Shoreline holding No Reserve auction

Sunday, December 2, 2018

All vehicles pictured are in the auction

Many collector car owners and enthusiasts throughout Shoreline and the Northwest know of Jeri Drager of Drager’s Classic Cars of Shoreline.

Triumph

Drager has made many friends in the area over the years, buying many cars, trucks and motorcycles as well as selling to local car guys and gals.

1966 Mustang

Now, Jeri is cleaning out his warehouse in Mt. Vernon with a “No Reserve” auction on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

Chev "Woody"

Not just cars, pickups, and motorcycles, but a car trailer, shop tools, porcelain and neon signs, yard art, automobilia and more.

1933 Franklin

It all must go at Drager’s warehouse in Mt. Vernon. Drager has enlisted well-known Northwest auctioneer and classic car specialist Mitch Silver, of Silver Auctions in Spokane, to handle the gavel.

Kawasaki silver

There are several cars formerly owned by local collectors included in the auction.

“Since it’s a no reserve auction, I am hoping to find good homes for all these cars and collectibles,” stated Drager while surveying the inventory.
“I hope a lot of car enthusiasts, whether they are collector car owners or not, will come out and take advantage of the good deals, so at the end of the day we’ll have an empty warehouse.”

Studebaker
Jeri Drager has been dealing with classic cars, trucks and motorcycles for over forty years, buying and selling locally and internationally. Located at 18805 Aurora Ave N in Shoreline

Drager’s Classic Cars will still have a regular inventory of other classics and muscle cars at the clubhouse in Shoreline after the auction.

Ford Model A pickup

Drager's is also known as a local landmark with a large mural on the southside of his building depicting a street scene with a few classic cars in the view. Many car guys and gals park their car in front of the mural on sunny days for photos, giving new meaning to "selfies".

Ford pickup

The auction begins at 10:00am with doors open for preview at 8:00am. The warehouse is located at 102 Valley Mall Way just east of I-5 in Mt. Vernon.

1946 Ford 4-door

For auction information, contact Silver Auctions at 800-255-4485 or Drager’s at 206-533-9600. For online sales information, contact Silver Auctions.

This 1950 Mercury was on display at the Richmond Beach Car show a few weeks back.

It occurred to me that there are probably just as many car aficionados among the readers as there are gardeners. And some even like both!

So here's one for you, car geeks! I have lots more in my files.
