It's certainly hard to argue that voters should not be able to choose the candidate who most closely represents their values. However, when we're talking about the presidential race, none of us has that option. Neither real progressives who hold their nose and vote Hillary, nor Republicans who are choosing to close their eyes and ears and scratch out the bubble next to Trump. A vote for Gary Johnson ('What is Aleppo?') or Jill Stein (let's have the president unilaterally forgive student debt ignoring how the law works) or McMullin is not a vote for the candidate who best represents your values. It is an irresponsible, childish protest vote that will not be heard or respected on the national stage. It will only leave you in a position to have to apologize for your vote and explain why you chose inaction when faced with the nightmare of a race-baiting, reprehensible, hard right man-child assuming the presidency of the world's foremost nuclear power. Please don't throw your vote away thinking you're honoring your principles. That's not how presidential elections work yet. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
