It was truly ...I've been to one of your events. It was truly evangelical in spirit. The church of TEA. The Constitution was invoked constantly. Sure it's free speech, but if anyone had uttered a word about such scary concepts as "income tax", or "protecting social security" they would have been shouted down. If anyone had defended Jay Inslee or Patty Murray, they would have been ridden out on a rail.

You all are free to tea party all night long, but don't expect most of shoreline to agree with you. Most of us know that it takes investment in your local, state and federal government from tax payers to pay for infrastructure we need such as schools and the Aurora Project for instance.

You would all like to just sit pretty on your big retirement checks in Innis Arden and let the rest of us rot.

It's not my idea of good governance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-56147446352126067842011-06-20T20:43:04.976-07:002011-06-20T20:43:04.976-07:00I'm the one who wrote the meeting announcement...I'm the one who wrote the meeting announcement, so apparently I'm the one who's being labeled an "extreme right-winger" - and this from someone with such courage of their convictions that they go by the name "anonymous." I would bet that these strong opinions come from someone who's never been to the Shoreline Caucus, never heard the speakers, and whose opinions merely reflect their own bias and personal limitations. It's not conservatives who try to limit free speech - after all, we posted this invitation to encourage all to come. In reality, it's people like "anonymous" who work to curtail the free exchange of ideas. I'll leave it to the reader to determine who more closely reflects American values.Jeff Pattonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-6836353231152198542011-06-20T08:25:36.860-07:002011-06-20T08:25:36.860-07:00Wait just a minute. What are you talking about?

He was the one who had the courage to stand up against the Bush Administration on their ridiculous Iraq War. He stands up for women's reproductive rights. He also has been a consistent champion for the environment, on energy, toxics clean water and air. He stands up for the values we share in his district and in this state.

Sonntag is the one who supported Susan Hutchison and apparently now expects to be called a Democrat?

The TEA Partiers and Shoreline Caucus are the ones who've hosted Clint Didier, Rossi and the other seven dwarves who ran against Patty Murray.
Remember Patty Murray, former Schoolboard member from Shoreline?

So if Sonntag wants their support he's going to have to run even further to the right. But not Jay Inslee. He's the one with courage and consistency for fight for the values we believe in here.

Shoreline Caucus is a Right Wing cell right here in Shoreline. It does kind of remind me of McCarthy. (not Gene).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-66805429295190336172011-06-19T23:36:33.862-07:002011-06-19T23:36:33.862-07:00I would tend to agree with the responder. I quick...I would tend to agree with the responder. I quickly identified the Shoreline Caucus as simply Tea Party and responded with a letter re: Rob McKenna event. But to address this situation - I think anyone would take the opportunity to speak to Tea Partiers - hear their complaints (not altogether illegitimate) and provide the education they need - which, based on experience, is significant (unless you still believe that POTUS Obama was born in Kenya...). I am looking forward to attending the event and to inquiring what Sonntag sees as the means to a clean government and how waste - particularly in "law enforcement" - can be eliminated. I am interested in hearing whether Sonntag genuinely advocates the privacy of Washington citizens and the ability to live peaceably in their own homes - in contrast to Jay Inslee who advocates violence against peaceful citizens when they engage in behavior he personally doesn't like.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-34095562939599445182011-06-19T22:25:04.576-07:002011-06-19T22:25:04.576-07:00Correction to last post (editing done in haste): D...Correction to last post (editing done in haste): Delete the word "called" in the first sentence, third paragraph. As auditor for the State of Washington, he had the unfortunate task, in 2005, of documenting the fact that the Federal government was correct in asking the state for Medicaid money back; since Medicaid was being given out to people who were not American citizens.

Whether or not you believe that was morally the correct thing to do, it was in point of fact, illegal. That's what the Feds were concerned about - as they should be - and what Brian Sonntag was concerned about - as he should've be.

Calling someone a "right-winger" because he associates with the discussion group known as the Tea Party, has replaced called someone the same because he knows people in the John Birch Society. It's what you could call "reverse McCarthyism." (That refers to Joe McCarthy, not Gene.)

Sontagg might not be everyone's cup of tea as a Democrat, but his support beyond his own party, just might make him a contender against Rob McKenna.Terry Parkhursthttp://automatter.typepad.com/my_weblog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-6237173580975848812011-06-19T08:23:05.101-07:002011-06-19T08:23:05.101-07:00Brian Sonntag apparently has zero loyalty to his p...Brian Sonntag apparently has zero loyalty to his party. And he is thinking about running for governor as a Democrat we presume? Now he's talking to Tea Party groups. He has absolutely no scruples.

By inviting this guy, the Shoreline Caucus is trying to appear reasonable, when in fact they are extreme right-wingers based in Innis Arden.

And we trust this guy to audit our cities and counties? He will never get my support.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
