We specifically collected the type of warm clothing items requested. I went through all the donated items, sorted, bagged and labeled them for easier use onsite. I also weeded out less useful things such as pantyhose and shorts. When we arrived they put the food in the food tent. Residents took the bags of clothing-I'm not quite sure where they put them. They did tell me that anything they are unable to use goes to Nicklesville.

A representative of Share/Wheel was onsite with the dental trailer. She mentioned one of the current needs is toothbrushes. My son and I will take about 50 toothbrushes to the site today.

There are a couple of needs lists here at Share/Wheel, http://www.sharewheel.org/donations and here, http://greaterseattlecares.org/newitems.html.

Of course the best thing is to go down and ask. About 100 people live there and their needs change with varying conditions. It is a welcoming community also doing their best to be good neighbors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5741412946805763929.post-48770615596481213852011-12-04T17:51:37.584-08:002011-12-04T17:51:37.584-08:00Did they have a place to store a truckload of food...Did they have a place to store a truckload of food, clothing and blankets? Doesn't greatseattlecares.org organize that to make sure they can, especially since they have to move everything come January when they'll be hosted by Seattle Pacific University in Queen Anne?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
