Organized by Everyday Activists, "Social Justice Sundays" regularly draw about 50 people and the occasional canine to stand up on important topics - sometimes with a light-hearted spin.

Such was the case this weekend when one protestor, whose sign referenced Seattle's most famous raccoon, "Jimothy," stopped for a photo with another protestor in an inflatable raccoon costume, whose sign noted the many contributions generations of immigrants have made to this country.
Sign-waving continues next Sunday (7/26) and every Sunday in August, 1-2pm, at the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and N 205th St. Food and toiletry items will also be accepted for donation to an organization assisting those in need.
What exactly are these people with the sign and costume doing to really help these immigrants? If they want to help, can they make themselves available to support them, give a life, offer to help with paperwork, a place to stay, groceries, a job?

ReplyDeleteYou better be glad you live in a deep blue state so you will be able to vote. I fear for my neighbors in "swing states" who will experience fewer places to vote, and intimidation if they can actually wait in line long enough. And for anyone who is proud of their vote(s) for Trump = your President STARTED a war with Iran and can't figure out how to end it. If you're happy that an "illegal" who committed a misdemeanor by walking into our country TO WORK is being sent back to any other country, then please continue to sleep well. I hope you don't count on medicare or social security in your future.
