Activists Assemble: A Festival of Activism was held at Shorewood High School on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Over 1600 people attended, including community members and volunteers, representatives of 80+ organizations doing important work to address urgent issues in the Shoreline | Seattle | North King and South Snohomish county communities, including immigrant rights, healthcare, the housing crisis, effective activism, the environment, voting rights and many more.
Attendees learned how they can support the work of those organizations, attended workshops on protest/rally safety, making Whistle kits, using cellphones to record events & actions, installing Signal on phone, registering voters.
Three excellent panel discussions were held on the issues of

- A way home: Community responses to housing and homelessness
- Immigration

- Jeff Paul, Organizer, House Our Neighbors
- Kerry O’Meara, Community Connector, North Helpline to discuss Homelessness Prevention

- Henry Hwang, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NIRP)

so glad we can live in a free country and disagree with who ever we choose, including most platforms these activists stand for. Where are the activists for gun control and climate change? Why do these activists protest against illegal immigration ( it is the law) and clamour over homlessness which is usually self selected through drug abuse?
ReplyDeleteThere were orgs there that focus on climate, responsible gun ownership, voter suppression, reducing impact of billionaires, and more. Immigration is the lead headline due federal activity, but people are still working other key issues. So much work to be done on so many fronts.

ReplyDelete1. Peaceful protesting is the birthright of every American citizen.
ReplyDelete2. Interfering or obstructing law enforcement in the act of doing their job is a felony and you will be arrested and jailed for doing it.
3. Assaulting police officers is a good way to get shot and killed.
4. Just remember those you are trying to “protect” are here illegally and probably have committed more serious crimes.
