Several thousand people join hands around Green Lake in peace and strength
Wednesday, October 8, 2025
Several thousand people gathered around Green Lake on Saturday October 4, 2025 to hold hands in a circle around the lake in a giant embrace of our democracy and community.
It was an all ages event as people gathered at six stations around Green Lake. A band at each station played. Some people walked as other stood, facing the water.
"Recent news and events bring mounting fear that we may be heading into a time of authoritarianism, political violence, and even military occupation of our city," said organizers.
This was a time to "dial down the intensity, remind ourselves of the values we stand for, and find peace and strength in community."

Yes, militarization of our cities, right! If the leaders actually did something other than hinder federal law agencies in their lawful work instead of babying criminals, we wouldn’t need to do that, Oh and here’s a fact, citizens of Portland polled at 65% in favor or National Guard help, so why aren’t the democrat leaders doing the will of the people?
These useless Greta Thornberg antics just show how deep socialism and communism is seeping into America, and our education system has become the useful idiots to indoctrinate our young minds.
Fortunately, growing up and becoming more discerning go hand in hand.
❤️
Are you even aware of the fact that socialism and communism are very different systems?
Thank you!!👏🏻
No verifiable public polling shows that 65% of Portland citizens favor National Guard help. The figure likely refers to a different poll about a separate topic, and recent national and local reports suggest significant opposition to the Trump administration's efforts to deploy federal troops to Portland.
There is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that 67% of the citizens of Portland want or encourage the National Guard presence in their city !!!!!!!!!!!
