Magpie Thrift at Shoreline Place

Story and Photos by John Boril

Shoreline has a new thrift store. Magpie Thrift recently opened at 15403 Westminster Way North, in the former Salvation Army store near the Town & Country Market.

The Shoreline location joins the original Magpie Store on Capitol Hill. Both feature clothing, furniture and household items.

The store’s website says the company is committed to sustainability and affordable thrifting.

A portion of everything you spend goes to local nonprofits, especially those focusing on helping to teach others about recycling, supporting LGBTQIA+ initiatives, and helping seniors downsize with dignity.

The Shoreline Magpie store also partners with the Shoreline Tool Library. All bike sale proceeds go to the Tool Library’s Bike Shack, which repairs and resells used bikes.

Donated items are accepted at both Magpie locations, and the Shoreline store is currently accepting employment applications for cashiers, donation attendants, and other positions.

Do you accept donations? If so, are there any limitations of certain items you will not accept?

Was hoping for something more upscale.

There is an upscale Senior Center furniture thrift store in Edmonds at Harbor Square.

What are the prices like? Is this a posh vintage thrift store with overpriced items or will this be a store where people can actually afford items? Where name-brands don’t mean an increase in price and everything is a fair rate ? Prices that reflect the initial purpose of thrift stores? Asking for a friend
