No Porch Light Parade this year

Sorry - no Porch Light
parade in 2024
For the past four years, the cities of Shoreline, Bothell, Kenmore, and Lake Forest Park have cooperated to sponsor the annual Porch Light Parade.

Residents of those cities could register to have their homes listed on a map to share their holiday lights and decorations.

But this year, the lights are out. Shoreline said it was "suspended due to staffing issues" and that applies to all four cities.

They hope to return in 2025.

In the meantime, feel free to send photos of your outdoor holiday decorations to us! Editor@ShorelineAreaNews.com

  1. I wonder how many FTEs this fully virtual event requires?

  2. Staffing issues? You ain't seen nuttin' yet. The next few years will bring staffing issues the likes of which nobody has seen before!

  3. this is something that should not be "city sponsored". There is so much social media available to anyone who can dress their house in electric lights it could easily be a facebook group, or reddit channel, etc etc. Or how about our local neighborhood groups? This sounds like something Patty Hale could turn into a regional event - or even a spot on CBS Sunday morning -

  4. Since I saw there isn't going to be an official porchlight parade map this year, I decided to take it upon myself to make one. I'd love to help get more people to add things to the map. Here's the submission form: https://forms.gle/NdijrRSdaBrpRnvD9
And here's the map that I'll add things to: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1eGQ42-HGiGLgX80LZjghD8FMWFemBmk&usp=sharing
