Goodbye Broiler Bay - Hello Starbucks

Broiler Bay demo

Broiler Bay remodeled the old Wendy's building in Shoreline's Parkwood Plaza on Aurora in spring of 2012. It came in with a fair amount of buzz from burger fans.

The buzz apparently wasn't enough to keep it going. It's not only closed, it is being demolished. It lasted six years, which is better than many of our coffee shops.

Shortest tenure for a restaurant is the Ahipoki in Aurora Village, which opened with a lot of energy in July of 2017 and was closed six months later.

Broiler Bay still has a location in Bellevue.

A new Starbucks will be built on the Broiler Bay site at 15220 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline 98133

Broiler Bay didn't build it, they just remodeled the old Wendy's there.

I really wanted to like Broiler Bay as I had read good things about the Bellevue location. The two times I went to the Shoreline location, though, it severely underwhelmed me. The remodel still had a lot of "Wendys" aspects to the building and the food was nothing close to what I could get at Red Mill Burgers. I just wish that whole development could undergo a remodel since there's so much wasted retail space.

Broiler bay didn't want to leave. The property owner forced them out.

Ahi poki never gave the community a chance to help them thrive . Sure won't be going to their other store.

We went often to Broiler Bay. They got an offer to buy out of their lease. They would still be there if they did not get a offer they could not refuse.
