Distracted Driving law takes effect July 23 - no hand held cell phone use

Thursday, June 22, 2017

Starting July 23, drivers can be ticketed for having an electronic device in hand, even when stopped at a red light or in traffic.

Hands free is allowed.

The first ticket will cost at least $136 - and subsequent tickets will be much higher.

The law also allows charges for driving and smoking, eating, or grooming, if you are pulled over for something else.
