Promised Land, Saturday, October 29, 2pm, Lake Forest Park Library, lower level Town Center, intersection Bothell and Ballinger Way, Lake Forest Park 98155.

Promised Land, an award-winning documentary, chronicles the history of the Duwamish tribe, as well as Southwest Washington's Chinook Indian Nation, telling the story of how tribes helped settlers and remain integral to our shared Northwest heritage.

As both tribes, and hundreds of others like them across North America, struggle against those who tell them they don't exist, the film examines a larger problem in the way that the government and society looks at indigenous sovereignty today.

Duwamish elder Edie Loyer Nelson will be present along with the filmmakers to talk about the film and the tribe's history and future.
