On Saturday January 30, 2015 Team Wise, fighting out of Shoreline MMA (mixed martial arts) competed at the prestigious Ground Warrior Submission Tournament in Salem, Oregon.

This is a Jiu Jitsu tournament featuring a no points, submission only format. This format most closely reflects the true art of Jiu Jitsu.

Coaches Aric and Riley Wiseman took five competitors to the tournament: (in order of appearance in the photo) Howie, Nick, Sam, Russel and Jonny. They competed in several different divisions up to and including Expert, the highest level.

Team Wise performed incredibly well with an astounding 29 submission victories out of a total of 29 matches. All five competitors scored double Gold medals, winning in both Gi and No-Gi divisions.

Howie competed in an additional weight class in No-Gi to earn a 3rd Gold medal. In addition both Howie and Sam won Fastest Tap trophies for submitting their opponents -- Sam in 6 seconds, Howie in 14 seconds.

Even though Team Wise took just five competitors they managed to take 3rd Place Overall in Youth/ Junior Combined Gi and No-Gi!
