Obituaries are condensed biographies of people's lives, written by the people who loved them. Like a memorial service, they tell us things we may not have known about the person, and may leave us wishing we had known them better.


Catherine Rose Donnelly  1929-2013  The Lake Forest Park resident was a social worker, police officer, and immigration supervisor. Mother of two, she enjoyed her large Irish family. Services at St. Mark's.

Michael James Driggers  age 38  Died unexpectedly at his home in Shoreline, leaving a wife and daughter, parents in Sequim, and a large and close extended family.

Lloyd Tomlinson Shoop   age 88  Lloyd and his wife Betty raised their two children in Shoreline. Lloyd participated in local civic organizations including the Northwest Hospital Board, Boy Scouts and as a Sunday school teacher at Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Victor Matous  1924-2014  Shoreline resident. Born in a Czech farming community in Nebraska, he became an Air Force flight instructor. Following law school at Notre Dame, he became an FBI agent. After retirement, he went to work for Boeing. Funeral mass at St. Luke's.

Herb W. Anderson  1927-2013  Served for years as the leader of the Berean Bible Church in Shoreline. With degrees in microbiology and public health, he worked for Seattle/King County Public Health for 33 years, then retired to work for the National Parks for another eight years.

Angus John MacDonald  1924-2013  "Angus was an active and proud member of the Scottish Highland games, as president, trustee and honored as chieftain in 1975. He volunteered for the Shoreline police department, Association for the blind, and Food bank."

Kenneth Howard Passe  1919-2013  He and Mary Jean raised three children in the area which became the city of Shoreline. "Ken was a life member of both the Richmond Masonic Lodge and Nile Temple Shrine, where he was a longtime member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Ken and Mary were members of Ronald United Methodist Church for more than 60 years."

Erma Leise Reid  1916-2013  With a degree in music from Biola, she was married three times, all to ordained ministers. She played the piano in church and gave piano lessons. She lived many years in Kenmore and spent her last years at Cristwood in Shoreline.

Pamela Rae Joslin  1953-2013  Company president of Joslin's Upholstery and Interiors. Services at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church.

Barbara "Bobbie" Huff Nelson  1941-2013  Worked for Washington Credit Union and raised her two children in Lake Forest Park. 

Dorothy F. Smith Pinney
Dorothy F. Smith Pinney  1935-2013  Devoted Catholic and active member of St. Mark's. She requested donations in her memory to Shoreline Fire Department Aid Car Fund, 17525 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline, WA 98133.

Dolores (Dodie) Elzinga Jacobson  1931-2013  Lived in Coupeville, Edmonds, California, Shoreline and Hood Canal.

Wanda Pearl Sagehorn  1925-2014  Passed on in Shoreline.

Donald Joseph Ward  age 78  Hockey player and coach, he died in Shoreline. Burial at Holyrood.

James Louis Austin, Sr.  Served in WW II. Worked at Sears and US Bank. Long-time member of Shoreline Covenant Church.

Mary Ann Smith  1922-2014  Lake Forest Park resident and mother of six children. Burial at Holyrood.

Barbara (Reid) Skutle Whitney  1931-2014  Librarian with King County Library System who worked at the Bothell and Shoreline libraries.

Antonio L. del Fierro  1933-2014  A memorial mass was held at St. Luke in Shoreline for hotel and restaurant owner Tony del Fierro. Nephew of a late president of The Philippines, Tony was an owner of the Roosevelt and Sorreno hotels and several Seattle restaurants.

Erma Mae (Dyck) Jensen  1926-2014  Services at Aurora Church of the Nazarene.

Don "Chips" Chiupka  1934-2014   He played hockey in the WHL for eight seasons, then coached junior hockey for three decades. Memorial service at the Innis Arden Clubhouse.

Virginia Mills Bennett  Age 76  Professor of Speech Communications at Shoreline Community College. She started the Homework Factory at Ballinger Homes, "an innovative tutoring program for which she was awarded the Golden Apple for excellence in teaching." Services at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Shoreline.

Edwin Angus Davis  1918-2014  Worked at Boeing, then 30 years at Stack Steel. Services at Aurora Church of the Nazarene.

Loretta Fay Richards  1926-2014  Shoreline resident, elementary teacher, mother of five.
