Shorewood golfer Babcock places second in State 3A boys’ tournament

Shorewood golfer Chris Babcock placed second in the State 3A tournament Tuesday and Wednesdaywith rounds of 69 and 75 for an even-par 36-hole total of 144.
He was seven strokes behind a golfer from Juanita and one ahead of a golfer from O’Dea. 
            
Trent Jones of Shorecrest tied for 28th place with rounds of 79 and 80 for a 159 total.
Jamie Wright of Shorewood missed qualifying for the Wednesday second round by six strokes when he shot an 87 Tuesday.

Garber finished the 36-hole tournament at 70-65 — 135, nine strokes ahead of the runner-up, Shorewood's Chris Babcock (144). O'Dea's David Fonua (145) was another stroke back in third.

Par took a beating Tuesday in the Class 3A boys state golf tournament as Babcock and Fonua shot 69s at Spokane's Indian Canyon Golf Course. 
The 36-hole state tournaments for all classifications conclude Wednesday at various sites.
