Pruning Japanese Maples Keith Dekker

Ragged mop, or star of the garden? Proper pruning makes all the difference to these lacy lovelies! Pruning professional Keith Dekker will go over how to prune, where to prune, and when to prune, as well as common mistakes to avoid. Pruning is both a science and an art, and Keith’s an expert at both. He’ll demonstrate on live trees to initiate you into the mysteries of fan pruning, thumb pruning, and more.

Sunday September 25th 1 pm – 2:30 pm
Bulbs for Spring Beauty Ken Plante

Nothing is more dazzling than a great display of spring color: a bed blazing with daffodils, tulips (cherry red or soft pink or deepest purple or purest white) edging your border, hyacinths wafting their perfume beside your front door… Explore the lesser-known bulbs too—snowdrops bravely proclaiming the certainty of spring in January, the starburst or spherical flowers of allium, demurely heart-shaped cyclamen in Valentine tones of pink, white, and red. Feeling blue? Try scilla, native camassia, exotic bellevalia…. Ken will tell you everything you need to know about choosing, planting, and enjoying these beauties.
