Put close to 300 people with their dogs at the Shoreview Off-leash Dog Park and there is bound to be a crazy fun day.

That’s what happened August 13, 2011 when ShoreDog’s 3rd annual outdoor dog event came to Shoreline.

From displays to demonstrations plus mixing and mingling with neighbors and other dog owners while snacking on hot dogs, there was something for everyone.

Throughout the day people and their pooches had a selection of attractions and activities. There were “pie” eating contests hosted by Dining Dog CafĂ©.

The fur flew during the “Best Shedder” contest sponsored by Furizzy Dog Grooming Rakes.

Some lucky dogs got to strut the dog-walk modeling fashions from D’Marie Pet Boutique.

Competition was “fierce” during the four heats of Doggie Dash racing and the “Best of” contests for eyes, tricks and pet-owner look-a-like events.

The Seattle Flydogs offered training expositions showing how natural canine behaviors can morph into extra ordinary tricks.

Meanwhile a myriad of pet food specialists, dedicated doggie treat bakers, health providers and party providers plus day care, walking and vacation experts offered advice and information to DogFest attendees.

The event is created in the late summer by Shoreline’s Dog Off-leash Group, ShoreDog, in cooperation with Shoreline Parks and Recreation department.

ShoreDog is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer stewardship group that is dedicated to establishing and supporting neighborhood dog off-leash areas within the City of Shoreline where well behaved canine citizens can exercise, play and socialize with other dogs and their people in a clean, safe environment.
